our standards
The independence of a cottage, the facilities of a country-house hotel: a new kind of luxury, ‘small is beautiful’ holiday complex which makes an ideal family break, leisure or romantic retreat - Mains of Taymouth is a family run, 120 acre estate set in an area of outstanding natural beauty in the heart of Scotland less than 2 hours drive from Edinburgh, Glasgow and Inverness. Our seven courtyard cottages, originally built in the 19th century as the home farm for neighbouring Taymouth Castle, (currently being converted into Britain’s first 6 star hotel) have been carefully and sympathetically restored to create charming and luxurious properties with a mouthwatering range of modern amenities including private hot tubs, saunas and Sky TV.
The British preference for private holiday space has spawned a huge self-catering industry, but one that doesn’t always deliver. Too often, your average cottage rental can prove a protracted exercise in figuring out the eccentricities of how somebody else’s house works, not least getting into it in the first place: the key under the mat (eventually located under a flower pot); the unfathomable instructions on how to work the hot water; the aged plastic folder containing fliers for dubious local attractions.
Not here! Everything down to the last utensil and homely modern comfort at your fingertips. With that all important and essential extra – the personal touch. A concierge service to rival most top hotels.
‘It’ll be brownie points for anyone claiming discovery of Mains Park Court for the next trip, a property with country character (yes, there’s a log burning stove) simultaneously offering the experience of a stylish boutique hotel. How many times have you rolled up to a castle or country mansion to have socks toasted by under floor heating?
Mains Park Court flies the flag for all that’s discerning about Mains of Taymouth Cottages, a redevelopment of courtyard steadings beside the pretty village of Kenmore.’
